Rental bike rides

Rides are detected, not reported. The feed only shows where each bike is right now. A rented bike disappears from the feed, so a ride here is a bike that disappeared in one place and showed up again in another. None of these numbers are official.

Rides by weekday and hour

All detected departures by weekday and hour, in Berlin time. On weekdays the commute shows up as two peaks, on weekends there is one broad peak in the afternoon.

Bikes available over time

nextbike's own count of available bikes, sampled every few minutes and averaged per hour. The dips during the day are bikes that are being ridden.

Ride distances

Straight-line distance between the start and end of each ride, so all distances are shorter than the actual route. Shown as a share of each city's rides, so cities with different fleet sizes can be compared.

Rides per day

All cities

movements were recorded but left out of all figures above because they imply a speed over 40 km/h. Those are vans redistributing bikes at night, not rides. How rides are detected and what that misses is explained on Method & source.
